On 21 April 2022, the general annual meeting of the Union of Plant-Based Product Manufacturers took place. On the agenda was the admission of new members to the industry association. Their number is expected to double.
The Union of Plant-Based Product Manufacturers Set to Double in Size
"Demand for plant-based products is growing by 20% each year, and an increasing number of market players see the promise of this industry. Many companies are striving to carve out their niche and stay on trend. Today, several categories of enterprises looking to enter our industry can be identified. These are representatives of traditional areas of agriculture, including livestock farming, who are diversifying production and moving toward plant-based products, as well as large agro-industrial companies with no experience in the food industry but eager to set up production and reap the dividends of a promising industry."
The Union received 18 applications. Among the new members:
- Progress Agro — one of the most efficient agribusinesses in southern Russia; the company is expanding in the areas of genetics, deep grain processing, and process digitalization
- Green Fields Product — a company producing soy-based products
- Makosh — an enterprise specializing in the deep processing of industrial hemp seeds (hemp oil, milk, and more)
- NATIV — produces therapeutic, preventive, and functional foods based on White Sea fucus algae, as well as phytocosmetics
- Ruchi — produces natural products from soybeans grown in Russia
- Veganov — develops and produces natural, environmentally friendly foods made from plant protein
- Meatless — produces a wide range of plant-based products (minced meat, sausages, cutlets, etc.)
- Greenwise — a manufacturer of meat, dairy, and other alternatives
- VegYu — production of vegan sauces, hummus, and desserts
- Derevensky Maslodel — a private enterprise producing unrefined vegetable oils from caraway, pumpkin, sea buckthorn, flax, sesame, hemp, cedar, and more
- Partner-M — a leading Russian manufacturer of food and feed ingredients
- Rostgribtorg — cultivates rare mushrooms with gastronomic and pharmaceutical potential
- and other companies
"One of the reasons for such extensive growth is the ability to jointly monitor market changes and seek solutions, an understanding of the prospects of the plant-based products industry, and the need to address problematic issues in a consolidated manner, especially in the current market environment," commented Valeria Rodina, Executive Director of the Union of Plant-Based Product Manufacturers.
