Industrial hemp seed hulls are the outer shell (husk) separated during seed dehulling. Despite their status as a processing byproduct, hulls possess independent functional value: they are a low-calorie source of dietary fiber with moderate plant protein content, natural bioactive compounds, and pronounced absorbent properties.
High cellulose and lignin content determines mechanical strength and moisture-holding capacity, making hulls valuable raw material for producing fiber, cellulose, sorbents, and filtration materials. These same properties render them valuable in agriculture—as a component of bedding, mulch, and soil-improvement blends.
The product is entirely natural, biodegradable, and renewable: its use aligns with zero-waste production principles and reduces environmental impact. Specific applications are detailed in the 'Application areas and properties' section above.
